RICHARD GIBBONS
BIOGRAPHY

Painter + Architect
I am a graduate of Notre Dame University with a degree in Architecture. The latter party of my university years was spent in Rome where I pursued my architectural degree but also pursued a career in Archaeology at the American Academy in Rome. I graduated and I found my first architectural job in Rome where I continued to live and work for a number of years.
Eventually I decided it would be best to pursue an architectural career in the United States, eventually starting my own boutique architectural career. I ran this firm and was the head design architect for many years. My projects were in Chicago, New York, Johannesburg, Atlanta, and a number of cities in the Midwest of the USA.
While running the architectural firm during the day, I went to night school at the Art Institute of Chicago focusing on Renaissance painting techniques.
My first solo painting show was with the Roy Boyd Gallery in 2000. My first show had 43 paintings. The entire show sold out. After that I stayed with this Gallery for 15 years where I had many solo shows, until the Gallerist retired.
After this, I was fortunate to join Gallery Victor, the major figurative gallery in Chicago. They continue to represent my work to this day.
Other galleries showing my work over the years have been Eleanor Ettinger in NYC, DNFA in Pasadena, and Beckel Odille Boicos in Paris.
Currently my work is on display at Gallery Victor in Chicago, Stewart Galleries in Palm Springs, Brian Marki Gallery in Palm Springs, and recently I was very pleased to be added to the artists showing their work at Galleria Dante in Puerto Vallarta.
