HERNÁN SOSA
BIOGRAPHY

Born in Arequipa, Peru in 1965.
He studied at the School of Fine Arts "Carlos Baca Flor" in Arequipa between 1984 and 1989.
As a student he won his First Prize in watercolor while studying Fine Arts.
Later he studied advertising design.
During that time he discovered the watercolor technique that accompanies him to this day.
His obsession for watercolor came to an end in 1992 and from then on he began an incessant struggle for the oil technique, always with the criticism of his watercolor oil paintings.
It is from that moment that his professional career began to develop nationally and internationally, standing out as a painter, drawing and illustration teacher, illustrator and cartoonist.
Multidisciplinary artist that throughout his thirty-five years of uninterrupted career has had 44 solo exhibitions in Peru, Ecuador, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Mexico, USA and Holland. He has participated in group exhibitions around the world and in 16 international fairs.
His most recent exhibitions have been at the Metropolitan Museum of Monterrey in Mexico and at the MIFA Gallery in Miami, USA. Among the awards he has received throughout his career, the following stand out: First place in watercolor at the Peruvian-British, First place in oil painting at the Southern Peru Copper Corporation painting contest, First place at the Bank of Lima contest at the Alliance Française, Illustrious Artist at the Municipality of Lima, First place at the International Painting Competition of the Peruvian Copper Corporation, and First place at the International Painting Competition of the Peruvian-British Art Museum.
His work has served to spread Peruvian art in different parts of the world and to be a point of reference for many young painters and art lovers.
Lately he exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico, where he exhibited more than 40 canvases of his works of large and medium format.
