TOM DICKSON
BIOGRAPHY
Tom Dickson was born in Hamilton Ontario in 1947.
He began painting in oils at age 10 and from that point onward art has been central to his life. He studied at the Ontario College of Art in the mid 60’s and notably took his first trip to Mexico over the summer and fall of 1967.
Back in Canada he began to paint the countryside and wilds of northern Ontario, gaining valuable experience in plein air technique. He moved to Nova Scotia in the mid 70’s and sold his work through major galleries in the city of Halifax over the next fifteen years.
In the 1990’s he and his artist wife Donna opened a gallery on Hornby Island, British Columbia which became very popular with west coast collectors. They began spending their winters in Mexico; first in Baja California, then San Miguel de Allende, followed by many years along the west coast, near and within Puerto Vallarta.
This evolved into longer stays until in the early 2,000’s they decided to make Mexico their permanent address.
They now paint full time in their studio overlooking Acapulco Bay with a gorgeous view of the wide Pacific Ocean beyond.
Currently his Mexican work is sold exclusively in Puerto Vallarta through Galleria Dante, Basilio Badillo, 269.
