BIOGRAPHY
Born in Guadalajara Jalisco in 1945, his specialty is graphic sculpture and artistic jewelry design.
He defines himself as a self-taught artist, although he received his first motivations from maestro León Velazco in 1991; Later, he carried out silkscreen printing, engraving and bronze casting, working in the workshops of his brother, the outstanding artist from Jalisco, Alejandro Colunga. He also studied with the prominent Jalisco jeweler Hugo Larios.
He dedicated himself to different activities inside and outside of art: radiologist, market analyst, etc., but it was not until 1992 that he formally began his artistic career, to which he has devoted himself with great passion, perhaps to make up for some of the lost time. in other activities; His jovial and cheerful character have allowed him to strengthen ties with various national and foreign artists and galleries, which have allowed him to develop quickly and make himself known both in our country and abroad. Creation in the midst of sculpture and jewelry has been for him a new means of reconnecting with life, opening up new paths and possibilities.
His main exhibitions have been held at Alejandro Colunga's Work Shop Workshop; in Guadalajara, Diverse Works Artspace Houston; Texas, The American School Foundation, IX Festival of Contemporary Art, Mónica Armendariz Gallery, Munich, Germany, London, England and Dante Gallery in Puerto Vallarta.
He obtained third place in the National Joya Art contest in 1995 in Mexico City, DF, he has also been selected to participate in the Annual Sculpture Hall of the Guadalajara Modern Art Center in 1992, 93, 94 , 95 and 97. His work "Emanations of the Eagle, obtained first place in the competition called to join the construction of the Ruben Darío business center, located in the Providencia neighborhood of Guadalajara.
His work has been included in the Mexican Encyclopedia of Sculpture, edited by the National Council for Culture and the Arts in 1997. His work called "Esperanza" largely reflects the intensity and passion of the artist and his artistic expression in confrontation with the man of the end of the millennium.
