Born in Guadalajara Jalisco during the year 1945, his specialty is graphic sculpture and artistic jewelry design.
He defines himself as a self-taught artist, although he received his first motivations from master León Velazco in 1991; later he did serigraphy, engraving and bronze casting, working in the workshops of his brother, the outstanding Jalisco artist Alejandro Colunga. He also studied with the prominent Jalisco jeweler Hugo Larios.
He dedicated himself to different activities inside and outside of art: radiologist, market analyst, etc., but it was not until 1992 that he formally began his artistic career, to which he has devoted himself with great passion, perhaps to make up for some of the lost time. in other activities; His jovial and joyful character have earned him close ties with various national and foreign artists and gallery owners, which have allowed him to develop rapidly and become known both in our country and abroad. He won third place in the National Jewel Art Contest in 1995 in Mexico City, D.F., and has also been selected to participate in the Annual Sculpture Hall of the Modern Art Center of Guadalajara in 1992, 93, 94. , 95 and 97. His work "Emanations of the Eagle" won first place in the contest called to join the construction of the Ruben Darío business center, located in Colonia Providencia de Guadalajara.
