JOSÉ TORRES
BIOGRAPHY
He was a child when he learned that he is passionate about plastic arts, painting and sculpture.
He was born in Arandas, a city in the Altos Sur Region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. There he began from a young age to enjoy and learn from art, he emigrated to study in Guadalajara where he completed Primary and Secondary at El Colegio Francisco Febres Cordero, acquiring the best of his teachers, always giving priority to Plastic Arts. That later motivated him to study sculpture and painting with different Masters and Academies.
He studied at the Universidad De Guadalajara, La Preparatoria and La Carrera de Arquitectura.
He is Founder and Member of IIDA International Interior Design Association, Guadalajara Chapter
His Studio and Workshop José Torres Collection began in 1980 where, in love with his work, he made works in Clay-Clay, Wood, Fibers and Resins, Bronze and mixtures of different materials, making high quality Decorative Pieces, Human Figure, Abstract Forms and Painting, integrating Mixed techniques making complements between the different Arts.
His work has been published in different Interior Design and Decoration Magazines.
He has made exclusive works for Important Design and Interior Design and Hospitality Firms in different countries.
Throughout his career he has received national and international awards and recognitions.
He participates in different Exhibitions and Galleries in Mexico, the United States, Canada and several cities in Europe, Australia and other countries.
