SIRPA
BIOGRAPHY
Artist Sirpa Alalaakkola has more than 30 years of professional experience.
“My journey started in a far away land of Lapland. From a young age I felt it was far too cold over there and my love for life and yearning for warmer climates led me to explore other places.”
She graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and completed her studies at New York University with Fulbright scholarship.
Her colorful, fun and skillfully executed works have been exhibited in galleries in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Finland.
Many of her paintings are in the collection of Museum of Modern Art in Helsinki as well as in public and private collections around the world.
She settled in New Zealand, where she had a successful 30-year career painting, running an art studio and selling her artwork.
She regularly travels abroad to paint and create large works of art from different cultures around the world.
“I still love to travel and have done many amazing inspirational trips around the world with my children.
The future holds many travel-painting projects to come.
Now that my children are grown up and my cousin moved to Puerto Vallarta, I now found that this wonderful city is an easy place to call home.
I hope you enjoy the work”
Sirpa currently lives in Puerto Vallarta.
