He was born in the state of Guerrero, in a small community called, San Agustin Oapan, on July 14, 1984. He learned to paint from a very young age, thanks to the guidance of his parents and being surrounded by natural landscapes, streams and a great diversity of animals.
His parents are Esteban De La Cruz and Emperatiz Cabrera, who were a great influence in his artistic development. They were also dedicated to the development of crafts within their own community.
He began working at 12 years of age, by painting with his parents. As the years went by, little by little he learned the technique of painting.
Romeo understood that life in his community was very difficult due to extreme poverty and lack of opportunities, so he made the decision to leave his ranch at the age of 15 years old in search of a better life. At first, it was not easy, because he started off as a street vendor, but over time, he met people who appreciated his talent. Now his work is exhibited in well respected galleries, thanks to God and the support of his family.
One of his greatest inspirations is his family, who motivate him to grow as an artist. His wife, Janet, works at his side creating an excellent team. They currently have a daughter named Grettel Denisse and live in the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta. In their free time, they enjoy the beach, movie theater and attending church.
Romeo De La Cruz's greatest dream, is to become an internationally recognized artist. Everyday he seeks to acquire new techniques and improve as an artist. He has set himself the goal to learn English, although he currently speaks the Aztec language Nahuatl and Spanish. He is determined to honor his heritage through his art and be successful as well.
