GINGER GRASLEY
BIOGRAPHY
was born in Texas to an artist and an engineer parents - mathematics and art have always coexisted naturally in her life. The youngest of three, Ginger struggled to follow in the footsteps of her older siblings. The oldest a university department head and the other a director at a major tech company. Ginger received a degree in Biochemistry and began working in the medical field.
After, starting a family Ginger began to realize that this data driven life in the lab no longer fed her soul. Her children ignited a creativity that was always in her, so in 2010 she hung up her lab coat to focus on her art.
Today Ginger's work straddles visual arts and music in a unique, refreshing, and personal way. She creates paintings of iconic and significant musical instruments on a literal and virtual canvas that explores the musical style and energy of fans, pop-culture of the times, and idiosyncrasies of the musician at task. Beyond acrylic on wood, her pieces are stylized in the third dimension with the likes of guitar picks, strings, wood inlay, and song lyrics.
Together with all of the influences that created her, Ginger applies the same drive and excitement of the scientific process in her art studio – one of math, art, experimentation, culture, creativity, trial and error and passion.
Ginger serves on a number of local non-profits and feels strongly about children and the arts. She is an avid paddleboarder, lover of live music and all things outdoor. She resides in Austin, TX , the 'Music Capital of the World' with her 2 sons and family dog.
