RICARDO OLIVaRES
BIOGRAPHY
Lawyer and sculptor, 42 years old, residing in Zapopan, Jalisco.
"I value creativity and originality very much since I did not have a formal education that initiated me in the art world. Nor do I have preconceived ideas about what art should be, coining my own canons."
Ricardo says that he is not properly inspired by any other artist present or past, nor is his work based on what is acceptable or not with the current art movement, which is also why, contrary to the most orthodox teaching, he evolved at every moment in how he creates his work, in his own forms and in the discourse that narrates each one of them. He is so versatile that when he finds a collection or style that he loves, he perfects it, exploits it a bit and changes again to a totally different one, with all that the challenge means.
"I had contact with the world of art since I was very young, precisely at the age of 6, since my father is a sculptor and watching him work creating three-dimensional figures was simply fascinating, so I modeled with plasticine since then various figures, people, dogs, guardians, same that I put in front of the door because I believed they helped to take care of our home."
The shapes that accompany him in his work were first linear, square and angular, figurative and surrealistic. They told short stories, sometimes funny but always powerful; like the work "Llave de cuadritos" that talks about energy and abundance; or the collection "De reyes", which in a curious and silent way tells us about some of the different kings that have existed; Like the "King without sleeve" a remarkable organic figure of an amorphous being, of few resources, with an angular and powerful face, who wears rags, which let us glimpse in one of his limbs the strength of a king of the "middle ages" and the other a curious shorter and more muscular arm with what seems at the end, rather than a hand, a key, like him.
"We are the result of our experiences, of our experiences, our successes and failures. All of this concerns us in some way, we are recyclable."
